Duration: 2020-2022
Project Description:
The prject has been conceived to give an answer to the new social needs after the COVID-19 emergency. In the era of social distancing and smart working, how the role of youth worker does change, mainly in the social and cultural inclusion of youth with migratory background? Which actions can be undertaken to not completely loose the relationships with the Others? Which good practices have been implemented at local and European level and what can be done else more? Those are the questions we tried to answer with this project. It aimed at creating a dynamic learning community of European organizations working for the inclusion of refugees, asylum seekers and youth with migratory background, to share best practices and reflect together on the ongoing humanitarian issues and create common strategies and action plans at medium and long term.
The specific objectives of the project were:
• Analyse the social effects of COVID-19 in the different European regions, considering both those caused by the sanitary
emergency and the consequent lockdown;
• Promote and share the good practices already acted by the participating organizations at local level;
• Reinforce cooperation and networking in the sector of Youth, defining common and innovative practices to face the new
challenges in the social animation;
• Increase competences of youth workers in the field of the inclusion of youth with migratory background,
• Define new tools and common projects to be developed in the future
The project allowed participants to acquire new skills and to expand their knowledge in terms of methodologies and tools at local level in their daily work with young migrant people. The exchange of good practices, study visits, moments of discussion and sharing, even informal, which have been generated during the participation in the seminar, contributed to enriching the cultural baggage of the participants and consequently the partner organsiation. Youth workers with increased skills will enrich the organization and will be able to carry out activities with a greater impact on the terms of the young people reached and the answers given to the needs of migrants. Youth workers increased their perception of the social effects observed by Covid-19 and, through comparison with other European youth workers, through the of sharing their experiences and the collective reflection, they will be able to implement new hig quality tools for work. In the social inclusion of young migrants, the expected results is an increased youth worker competence to reach the needs of young people and to dare adequate responses to the current emergency.
